After a rocky start in the Wubble, the Las Vegas Aces have dominated on the WNBA floor with their chemistry on both ends of the floor. The two stars in A’ja Wilson and Angel McCoughtry have figured out the way to lead the team in their winning streak. With Wilson playing like an MVP and McCoughtry bringing that veteran leadership, the Aces are showing that they’re true contenders.
It seemed as if the Aces didn’t really know their identity to begin the season. Without their two key pieces in Liz Cambage and Kelsey Plum, Head Coach Bill Laimbeer had to figure how to work in other key pieces to contribute on the floor. Therefore, the Aces dropped two of their first three games of the season, just looking gassed on the floor at times. And if things didn’t turn around soon, this team would go on to underachieve expectations this season.
Luckily, A’ja Wilson was the X-Factor in the team’s turnaround. She got in attack mode and really brought the energy to the rest of the team going forward. Without their star player turning things up, questions would swarm around wondering where this team would be as of today. Wilson has lit up the floor with her high caliber offense and ability to close games out for the Aces. Her turnaround this season has really opened eyes on the Aces as people now view them as a true contender in the WNBA.
The Aces have seemed to be the best fitting for Angel McCoughtry and this point in her career. After accomplishing so much in Atlanta, winning is the main priority for McCoughtry. So far this season, her scoring has seemed to be a secondary accolade for this team. McCoughtry has been a leader on and off the floor, giving her team different ways to be successful on the court. As the season winds down and the playoffs will be around the corner, McCoughtry will have to continue to guide the younger acts of the team and help them push through the rest of this season.

With Wilson and McCoughtry continuing to lead the way for the team, it can only mean good things going forward. Even though Las Vegas isn’t as established together as a team like Seattle, they have plenty of time to continue to feed off one another and make each other better. With the height of her career, Wilson will continue to keep her foot on the gas to keep her team afloat come playoff time. As long as she stays in attack mode the entire games, the rest of the team will follow.
It’s great to see the Aces finally play winning basketball. Many insiders have very high expectations for the team as they have the potential to clinch a WNBA Championship this season. Wilson and McCoughtry will continue to lead the way for the Aces moving forward. They both understand that the team’s success starts with them making things happen on the floor.
