After Atlanta parted ways with Angel McCoughtry, it was time for the Dream to start fresh with a new rising prospect. Luckily, they were able to steal Chennedy Carter with the 4th overall pick in this years WNBA Draft. With Carter coming off of a fantastic collegiate career, she will carry the this franchise and can hopefully do great things.

After a horrific 8-26 record last season, the Dream front office needed to find solutions to make the team contenders. With McCoughtry sidelined for a numerous amount of time, the team never could get into a flow. At one point, the team lost 12 straight looking like a laughingstock in the WNBA. Hopefully, with Carter leading the way, the franchise can make baby steps in going the right path of success.

Carter was one of the most premier scorers in this years draft. She is a player who is lethal on the offensive end and can shoot the lights out at any given moment. The rookie guard will bring a different tenacity to this Dream team and the atmosphere can possibly change once Carter’s presence is felt on the floor.

Carter averaged 21.3 points on 45% from the field during her junior season at Texas A&M. She was without question the X-Factor for her team and her nightly performances lead them to be one of the top notch teams in the SEC. Even though she does struggle at times from beyond 3 point land as she shot 23% during the season, that is one part of her game that she will slowly develop. Once Carter fits in to the Dream rotation, she’ll find a rhythm shooting the ball and could possibly be deadly from beyond.

Carter and the Dream franchise are going to be the perfect pair. This is a girl who competes on a nightly basis and leaves everything out on the floor. Nicki Collen seems to have been looking for a new foundation to this rebuilding team. As the future shines bright, she will look to Carter throughout the years to be the vocal leader on and off the floor looking to build team chemistry. Carter has such a winning DNA and puts the game into her own hands. The Atlanta franchise will be excited for her to change things and keep the fans out of their seats with her spectacular moves.

Carter is expected to make a lot of noise in Atlanta. Many believe that she will also be one of the most underrated players to come out of the draft as well. Her goal is to continue to improve as a player and a leader to change the dynamic of this franchise throughout the years of her career. It will be difficult for her as a rookie trying to adjust to the professional level. But once Carter gets into the swing of things, she will be known as one of the best players in the WNBA come soon.
