LeBron James is looking to have a bounce back season after missing the playoffs for the first time in over 14 years. With the new addition of Star Forward Anthony Davis and other key role players, The King is looking forward to leading the Lakers back into playoff contention and adding on to his legendary resume

Although LeBron and the Lakers missed the playoffs a season ago, LeBron still averaged his regular numbers on what was known as an “off” year for him. He averaged 27.4 points per game, 8.3 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game. People forget that around November-December of last season, the Lakers were playing great basketball despite their struggles during the beginning of the year.

Their exceptional basketball lead by LeBron gave the Lakers the 4th seed in the West heading into the Christmas game against the Golden State Warriors. Once LeBron went down in that Christmas game, everything for the Lakers went downhill from there. The young core wasn’t able to carry the momentum from the past couple months and also many other injuries occurred with the other players. Which led the team to miss the playoffs for the 6th consecutive season.

Many people looked at this opportunity as a good sign for King James. After having 8 consecutive NBA Finals appearances, it was a great opportunity for him to rest his body and recuperate after going through so much wear and tear for nearly a decade. No doubt that LeBron took advantage of the opportunity that was given to him as he was able to get away from basketball both physically and mentally.

“It was a great summer for me” LeBron stated during media day. Even though he had a blast watching the NBA Playoffs from home, as the competitor LeBron is he knew he wanted to be back in that environment he was used to being in and that was helping his team win a title.

With the addition of Anthony Davis on the purple and gold, LeBron expects the both of them to build much chemistry on the court and feed off of one another to both have spectacular seasons. LeBron spoke about the expectations that the two will have during media day. “If we’re not playing through Anthony Davis while he’s on the floor then it makes no sense to have him on the floor. Because he’s that great.”

Critics will say that Anthony Davis is possibly the best teammate that LeBron has ever played with. Reasons why is because when you look at LeBron’s former teammates in Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, its debatable to say that these four players were never as dominant as AD has been even though these four players are spectacular. Also with Davis being 26 years of age, this will give LeBron the opportunity to rest throughout certain points of the regular season to keep his body fresh for when playoffs roll around.

According to NBA.com, the Los Angeles Lakers only have a 11% chance to make the NBA Finals this year compared to the Clippers who have a 46% chance. Even with the new additions to the core this year, people still may believe that they may not get over that hump to win a championship. Will the Lakers be able to challenge that statement? Is their new dynamic duo gonna be as great as people expect them to be? These are questions that LeBron James and his Laker teammates are gonna have to answer throughout the regular season and as soon as the playoffs roll around in mid April.
